The process of receiving an orthosis involves evaluation, recommendations, treatment, education, and rehabilitation.
Stage 1: Initial Evaluation
You and your clinician will discuss your diagnosis and how a brace or support will fit into your life.
Stage 2: Measurements
Measurements will be taken, and in some cases, a cast will be made.
Stage 3: Fabrication
The measurements, casts, or scans will be sent to a fabrication facility to create the orthosis.
Stage 4: Orthosis Delivery
You will receive the final orthosis, and your clinician will ensure it fits and functions properly. A wearing schedule will be provided to help you gradually get used to the orthosis. If modifications are needed, additional appointments will be scheduled.
Follow the schedule as prescribed by your clinician to gradually get accustomed to your orthosis. This may take some time and patience.
Rehabilitation will help you regain strength and mobility.
